The final conference of these Baltic Sea Region Programme projects will be held in Mariehamn, Åland Islands, on the 5th-6th of February 2014. Detailed program, registration and practical information for the conference “Sustainable aquaculture in the Baltic Sea Region – boosting regional development while limiting environmental effects” will be published soon at the project websites.

Aquabest project has run trials to test different regional feed ingredients to ensure that they are of high quality and suitable for use in the Baltic Sea region aquaculture.

Feasibility study in Belarus continued with a second field tour

Aquabest project is preparing a feasibility study manual on the Danish RAS concept. The manual and its recommendations are being field tested in Belarus, which has ambitious plans to expand aquaculture.

Without the aquaculture industry, Föglö's economy would not be stable

In September, the Åland Aquabest team participated in a Fisheries seminar on the island of Föglö, Åland.The Åland Government aquaculture representants presented the activities within Aquabest and the efforts to find incentives to meet the environmental demands at the same time as production is kept or increased.

Aquabest at EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region seminar in Helsinki

EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region was discussed during a Priority Area AGRI meeting in Helsinki in August 2013. Three flagship projects of the strategy, including Aquabest, presented their work in the seminar.
